El Tímpano is a local journalism and civic engagement organization created with and for Latino and Mayan immigrants in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its model of creating journalism from the ground up, and strategies that effectively reach, serve, and engage immigrant communities, has inspired newsrooms across the country.
